Forbes' 82nd Minute Goal Propels Pacers to 1-0 Victory

Pacers will host the first match of the Atlantic East Conference tournament

Scranton, Pa - Marywood University earned the No. 3 seed in the Atlantic East Conference men's soccer playoffs with a thrilling 1-0 win over Immaculata University on Wednesday. The Pacers beat out both the Mighty Macs and Marymount University on a three-way tiebreaker.

With their ticket punched, the Pacers (7-8-2, 2-2-2) will host the first home playoff game in the Atlantic East era. It is the first time Marywood will host a men's soccer postseason game since the 2015 season. Marywood will take on No. 6 Gwynedd Mercy University Saturday in the first round.

Prior to the game, Marywood honored Alex Russo, Trey Watson, and Jordan Pattavina-Arroyo for senior night.

The first 81 minutes of play was a back and forth battle, both teams silenced.

In the 82nd minute, the Pacers surged as Jack Forbes was able to place a beautiful cross from Nolan Kozera past the Immaculata keeper and into the left corner of the net. The late goal put the Pacers up 1-0, and it was all they needed to pull out the victory.

Marywood was able to get 12 shots off with eight of them being on goal. Immaculata tallied four shots, two of which were on goal.

The Pacers out-dualed the Might Macs in corner kicks as well, 7-4.

Alex Russo recorded two saves along with the shutout for Marywood. Immaculata keeper, Ryan Straub, recorded seven.
