Volleyball Splits in Second Home Tri-Match

Pacers defeat the FDU Florham Devils

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University split a pair of four-set matches against the FDU-Florham Knights and Hood College Blazers on Saturday in the second home tri-match of the season. The Blazers fell to FDU-Florham in three sets of the neutral site match. 

Marywood 3, FDU- Florham 1

The Pacers won in four sets against the Knights with scores of 25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 25-22.  Marywood took the lead in aces, 12 to 8. 

Libby Smith led the team with 12.

Gianna Norton led the Pacers with five aces and 30 digs. Jaedyn Laws recorded a double-double with 27 assists and 15 digs.

In the second set, Marywood was up 24-16 when FDU-Florham had a six-point run to keep the Pacers from ending the set early; however, for the set point Casey Hagerstrom recorded the kill. 

In the fourth and final set, it was neck and neck until the Pacers went on a five point stretch. Karli Boyer secured the set recording the kill and ultimately, Marywood winning the match.

Marywood shot .151, and the Knights shot .160.

The Pacers also recorded 48 kills compared to FDU-Florham's 47. 

Marywood 1, Hood College 3

The Pacers fell in four sets to the Blazers, 25-23, 22-25, 15-25, 21-25. 

Norton recorded 15 digs. 

Offensively, Hagerstrom recorded nine kills. 

In the opening set, the Blazers were ahead 23-20, when the Pacers had a five point streak to steal the set away.

The Pacers will open up conference play when they host Gwynedd Mercy Wednesday.
