CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND | Two-goal victory lifts Pacers to AEC Championship

Lahr breaks single-season points record

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University returned to the Atlantic East Conference field hockey championship for the first time since 2019. The second-seeded Pacers defeated No. 3 Immaculata University 2-0 Wednesday in the Atlantic East semifinal.

After a scoreless first quarter, Cydney Lahr got the Pacers on the board first when she snuck one past the keeper in the 17th minute. Lahr's goal officially broke the Pacers' single-season points record. She surpassed Leanne McManus' 2015 school record.

In the 48th minute, Lauren Youngken executed beautifully on a penalty stroke, burying the ball in the upper left corner of the cage. The score extended the Marywood lead to 2-0.

The Pacers outshot the Mighty Macs 20-1, with 15 of those shots being on goal. Immaculata's single shot was on goal as well.

Marywood also dominated the penalty corner contest, recording nine. The Mighty Macs managed to record one.

In the cage for the Pacers, Leah Ewing recorded one save, as well as the shutout. Immaculata keeper Julia Levase recorded 13 saves on the night.

With the victory, the Pacers advance to the Atlantic East Conference Championship, where they will travel South and take on the first seed, Saint Mary's College of Maryland, on Saturday.
