Pacers Storm Back to Topple Giants in Front of Hungry Crowd

Seitz finishes with 26 points on 9 of 13 shooting

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University overtook Keystone College in the late stages of a 90-86 victory Tuesday night in non-conference men's basketball action. The Pacers evened their record to 2-2 on the season. 

Trevor Seitz finished with a game-high 26 points off of the bench. Seitz was 9 of 13 shooting, hitting five shots from beyond the arc. He tied for a team-high five rebounds. 

Brendan Franko was proficient from the field, connecting on 8 of 10 baskets for 21 points. Brandon Reed and Mason Mendygral joined them in double figures with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Mendygral provided five assists. 

Marywood trailed by as many as 11 points early in the second half. The Pacers went on a six-point run to cut the deficit to 78-75 with 5:48 remaining. Marywood followed that up with an eight-run that stretched it to a 14-2 streak over a 4:20 span. 

Mendygral evened the score at 80 apiece with a free throw at 3:41. On the next possession, Mendygral hit a long-distance shot to give the Pacers their first lead of the second half. After the Giants ended the Pacers' scoring run, Franko made a mid-range jumper for a three-point lead. 

Reed hit a floater in the paint that stretched Marywood's lead to 87-82 with 1:45 left in the contest. With the Giants responding to the Pacers point-for-point, Marywood fooled the Giants on a Hail Mary play off an inbounds with Perkins finding Franko for a layup. 

The Giants kept within one possession in the final minute on Brandon Scott's bucket. Following a Seitz turnover, Franko secured a key defensive rebound. Franko stole a ball off Keystone's Dashaun Johnson with three seconds left, and Seitz made a free throw to seal the win. 

Keystone (0-3) was led by Kamdyn Ayers with 21 points and seven assists. Jack Anderson made 16 points one game after reaching the millennium mark for his career. Johnson (15) and D'Andre Sutherland (10) were each in double figures. 

Both teams made 55 percent from the field. The Pacers were 13 of 23 (56.5 percent) from beyond the arc. Marywood edged Keystone 31-28 in rebounds. The defending assists per game NCAA statistical champions had 22 helpers. 

Marywood hosts a tournament this weekend. The Pacers will take on Central Pennsylvania Friday at 6 p.m.
