Men's Basketball Unraveled by Saints on Senior Day

Caleb Vigil leads Pacers with 23 points

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University came up short of a season-changing upset on its men's basketball Senior Day. The Pacers fell to first-place Marymount University 79-72 on Saturday. 

Marywood honored seniors Mike Strouse and Jason Holman prior to the game. 

Caleb Vigil led the Pacers with 23 points off of the bench. Vigil shot 9 for 15 from the field. 

Holman scored 16 points on a 7-for-11 performance from the field. Trevor Seitz tallied nine points. 

Both teams shot 49.2 percent from the field. Marymount was sent to the line 23 times, making 14 of its attempts for a 60.9 percent mark. Marywood made all five of its attempts. The Saints benefited from an up-tempo performance, outscoring the Pacers 22-4 in fast-break points. 

Marywood (10-14, 3-8 AEC) currently sits sixth in the Atlantic East Conference standings with one game remaining. The Pacers have one game in hand over the rest of the conference.

Marymount was led by Marcus Beckett with 18 points. Jack Bifano finished with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. 

Leading the nation in assists per game, Marywood logged 20 assists against the Saints. Marymount outnumbered the Pacers with 25 helpers. 

Marywood wraps its regular season on Wednesday night at Immaculata University.
