Men's Basketball Wraps Regular Season with Playoff Hopes in the Air

Marywood will receive the No. 6 seed with a Centenary loss on Saturday

Immaculata, Pa. — Marywood University finished its men's basketball regular season with a 83-73 loss to Immaculata University on Wednesday in Atlantic East Conference action. The Pacers have a game in hand, and Marywood will need a Centenary University loss on Saturday to qualify for the conference playoffs as a No. 6 seed. 

Cole Johnson led the Pacers with 16 points. Mason Mendygral and Caleb Vigil finished with 10 points. 

Defensively, Brendan Franko had a team-high nine rebounds. 

Marywood made 44.3 percent of its shots for the game. The Mighty Macs made 54.4 percent from the field. Both teams struggled from the line with the Macs hitting 57.1 percent and the Pacers making 52.6 percent. 

Immaculata had a 27-point effort from Keith Farmer. Tyler Tillery tallied 16 points and eight rebounds. 

The Mighty Macs opened the game with the first seven points and rushed to a 14-5 lead at the 14:42 mark of the first half. Late in the second half, Marywood brought the deficit down to four points (64-60) with 5:13 remaining. Immaculata responded with an 8-1 run over the next two minutes. 

Marywood finished with 16 assists to the Macs' 24. Immaculata had a 29-8 advantage in fast-break points. 

The Pacers await the Centenary versus Neumann matchup on Saturday to decide if they qualify for Monday's Atlantic East first round.
