Vigil Sinks Game-Winner to Lift Pacers over Cavaliers

Cabrini came back from 12 down with less than five minutes

Radnor, Pa. — Marywood University survived a late Cabrini University comeback for its second-straight Atlantic East Conference men's basketball victory. Caleb Vigil hit a game-winning layup to lift the Pacers to a 78-76 victory over the Cavaliers on Saturday.

Vigil made basket with two seconds remaining for the go-ahead points. It capped a 18-point effort off of the bench. He was 8 for 13 from the field.

Jason Holman was a rebound shy of a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. He went 5 of 9 from beyond the arc.

Cole Johnson finished with 16 points. Trevor Seitz had 12 points. Brendan Franko had eight rebounds and eight points.

Cabrini had three players — Aquil Stewart, Ryan Byars, Ahmadu Sarnor — each scored 17 points. Donoven Mack had 10 points and five steals.

Marywood led by 14 points (75-63) with 4:14 remaining. The Cavaliers went on a 15-1 run over the last four minutes. Isaac Brady made a layup to cut the deficit to two points. Seitz stole a ball with 45 seconds, but the Pacers were unable to sink a one-and-one free throw.

Byars made a layup with 12 seconds left to tie the score at 76-76.

The victory over the Cavaliers propels Marywood into the playoff picture. The Pacers (10-12, 3-6 AEC) move from seventh to fifth place with three games remaining.
