Lebanon Valley Hands Pacers First Loss of the Season

Annville, Pa. — Marywood University women's lacrosse was handed its first loss of the season Wednesday night with a score of 18-12 against Lebanon Valley College. The Pacers drop to 2-1 on the start of the 2023 campaign. 

Emma Solomon produced a season high of five goals. Freshman Avery Meighan notched four goals and one assist. 

Kaitlyn Smith contributed a season high of three assists and added one goal for four points. Natalie Yilanjian tallied two goals. 

The Dutchmen opened up the scoring just three minutes in on a goal from Alyssa Wene. Meighan quickly responded with a free position try to tie the game at one and collect her first of the game. Lebanon Valley added two goals to end the first quarter with a two goal lead.

Marywood had a four goal run over Lebanon Valley in the second quarter, but was still outscored by a 5-4 margin. The squad went into halftime down by three goals.

The beginning of the second half sparked the Pacers to have a three goal run, but was halted by a Dutchmen goal. Solomon finished the third quarter with back-to-back-to-back goals, but the Pacers were still at a four goal deficit.

Lebanon Valley outscored the Pacers in the final quarter of regulation to notch the win over the Pacers. This win gave the Dutchmen their first victory of the season. 

Kortney Harry made her first start of the season in the cage and had six saves in the loss. 

The Pacers had a 13-11 advantage in ground balls and a 12-8 advantage in free position shots. 

The Pacers host Stockton University Saturday for a mid day matchup.
