Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Pacers Unable to Surpass Stockton

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University faced defeat in a 14-8 loss against Stockton University in women's lacrosse Saturday afternoon. Both Emma Solomon and Kaitlyn Smith matched a season high with five points.

Following their game, the women's lacrosse team joined forces with the men's lacrosse team to honor alumnus Thomas "Gibby" Gibson '21. The teams presented Gibby's family with a framed jersey to honor his legacy within the Marywood community.

Solomon and Smith each finished with five points on three goals and two assists. Smith added six draw controls.

Stockton took an early lead in regulation with two goals from Aubrey Giordano and Isabella Marinello. Avery Meighan quickly responded to cut the lead in half. Marinello answered with back-to-back goals to increase their lead to three goals. Solomon responded one minute later to cut their deficit in half once more. Smith closed out the first quarter with a goal off a Solomon assist trailing 5-3.

The Ospreys and the Pacers had even scoring in the second quarter at three goals a piece. Stockton led 8-6 entering into halftime.

Stockton outscored the Pacers in the third quarter with six unanswered goals. Marywood was only able to get three shots off, and was unable to finish.

The Pacers dominated the final quarter with two man up opportunities. Natalie Yilanjian and Solomon were both able to find the back of the net, but was not enough to surpass the Osprey's.

Yilanjian finished with two goals, while Alaina Brenneman and Kayla McCabe tallied an assist each. Meighan collected 11 draw controls.

Kortney Harry made three saves and Emiy Dyminski tallied nine saves.

The Pacers look to get back in the win column as they host Mount Saint Mary's College (N.Y.) Tuesday evening.
