Graduate Students Lead Pacers to a Shutout Win Over Keystone

La Plume, Pa. — Graduate Students Emma Solomon, Kayla McCabe, and Alaina Brenneman led the Pacers to a 18-0 victory over Keystone College in women's lacrosse action Tuesday. Solomon and McCabe each finished with six goals. Brenneman contributed five assists. 

In addition, Solomon added two assists, five ground balls, and four draw controls. McCabe also tallied four assists for 10 points, seven ground balls, and seven draw controls. She was just shy of matching individual single game program records in assists and points. 

McCabe opened up the scoring in the first quarter off an assist from Lana Sorg, who tallied her first career assist and point. Solomon quickly followed off a McCabe assist for an early lead. The Pacers had back-to-back-to-back goals from McCabe followed by back-to-back goals from Olivia Stollsteimer to have a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Stollsteimer opened up the second quarter on a woman-down goal off a McCabe assist. Solomon found the back of the net minutes later to find her third goal of the game. Just seconds later, Lauren Matarazzo scored her first of the game. Solomon finished out the second quarter with three goals to give Marywood a comfortable 12-0 lead over Keystone.

The Brenneman-to-Solomon duo dominated the third quarter to finish with two assists and two goals respectively. The Pacers entered the final quarter of regulation with a 14 goal lead. 

McCabe scored back-to-back goals off assists from Sorg and Brenneman. With six minutes left, Avery Meighan found the back of the net to earn her first of the game. Kortney Harry closed out the scoring on a woman-up opportunity to clinch the victory.

Stollsteimer finished with three goals and two assists. Mattarazzo and Meighan each contributed one goal and one assist. Harry finished with one goal.

Emily Dyminski collected three saves in the win. 

The Pacers outshot the Giants by a 30-7 margin.

Marywood will travel to Misericordia University on Thursday.
