Manna, Metzger Push Pacers Past Monarchs

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. — Juniors Matt Manna and Dalton Metzger led the Marywood University men's lacrosse team to a 13-2 victory over King's College Wednesday night. The pair each finished with a hat trick to extend to a two-game win streak.

The Monarchs had the first goal of the game just two minutes in from Jack Wall. Metzger quickly answered with his first of the game to notch the score at one off an assist from Aiden Kilkenny. EJ Schreiner scored unassisted to regain the lead, which would mount to be their first and only lead of the game. 

Manna found the back of the cage in the start of the second from a John Scibello assist to tie the game at two. Kieran Scanlan, Harrison Miccio, and Kilkenny followed to close out the first half with a 5-2 lead over the Monarchs.

The Pacers outscored the Monarchs by a 5-0 margin in the third quarter. Manna opened the third quarter with a goal to find his second of the game. Metzger had back-to-back goals to give the Pacers a comfortable 8-2 lead. Manna followed to collect his hat trick. Ben Mustakos closed out the third quarter to put the Pacers ahead by eight goals.

Scanlan opened up the fourth quarter with an unassisted goal to earn his second of the game, followed by Scibello. Dillion Kane contributed his goal on a man-up opportunity. 

Scanlan finished with two goals. Scibello also contributed four assists. Kilkenny secured one goal and two assists. 

Miccio added one goal and one assist, while Mustakos and Kane each tallied one goal. 

Nick Ericson went 9-19 on faceoffs, and Colin Trainor had 13 saves.

The Pacers will host Albright College on Saturday for a mid-day matchup.
