Pacers Score Eight Straight to Win Over Albright

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood men's lacrosse team had a hard fought battle to secure a 14-7 victory over Albright College Saturday. The Pacers recorded their highest offensive output of the season with 14 goals.

John Scibello and Dalton Metzger each tallied two goals and one assist each. Ben Pizzarello and Dillon Kane finished with two goals a piece.

Albright had a strong start in the first quarter with goals from Lucas Roselli and Ryan Houghtaling to lead the Pacers 2-0 in the first six minutes. This would mount the Lions' first and only lead of the game. Matt Manna found the back of the cage with three minutes left. Pizzarello followed with his first goal of the game to tie the game at two a piece at the end of the first quarter.

The Pacers had complete control of the second quarter as they scored six unanswered goals. Ben Mustakos opened up the second quarter with an unassisted goal take a 3-2 lead. Scibello, Aiden Kilkenny, and Harrison Miccio followed to lead 6-2 over Albright. Metzger was able to tack on his first of the game on a man up opportunity. Scibello closed out the first half with a goal with just five seconds left to possess a six goal lead. 

The Lions had the first two goals of the second half from Jay Shifflet and Jack Burke to cut the Pacers lead down to four. Metzger, Kieran Scanlan, and Kane each scored unassisted to take a comfortable 11-4 lead. Albright's Connor Brumbaugh closed out the third quarter with a goal off of a Burke assist. 

Burke opened up the final quarter of regulation with an unassisted goal. Kane, Pizzarello, and Nick Ericson each responded with a goal to increase their lead over the Lions. With just one minute left in regulation, Shifflet scored off an assist from Burke to add one more before the final buzzer. 

Kilkenny tallied one goal and three assists, while Ericson added one goal, one assist, and 18 groundballs. Manna, Scanlan, Mustakos, and Miccio each contributed one goal. 

Ericson went 17-24 on faceoffs, while teammate Colin Trainor collected seven saves. 

The Pacers outshot the Lions by a 50-28 margin and had a 47-34 advantage in ground balls.

The men's lacrosse squad will host Morrisville State College Wednesday.
