McCabe Tallies 100th Career Goal in 19-4 Win Over Eastern

She joins seven other women's lacrosse athletes in the 100-goal club

Scranton, Pa. — Kayla McCabe and Natalie Yilanjian led the Maryood women's lacrosse team to a 19-4 victory over Eastern University Saturday. McCabe tallied her 100th career goal in the win.

McCabe finished with five goals and three assists, while Yilanjian added five goals and two assists.

The Eagles took an early 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal from Ellie Pruitt. The Pacers followed with back-to-back goals from McCabe to put the Pacers ahead. Pruitt added her second of the game to notch the game at two a piece. Emma Solomon quickly answered off an assist from Avery Meighan to put the Pacers ahead once more. Emerson Shauger joined in on the scoring to tie the game at three. Solomon added her second of the game off an assist from McCabe to regain the lead. Alaina Brenneman and Yilanjian closed out the first quarter to have a 7-3 lead.

The Pacers outscored the Eagles 6-0 in the second quarter. McCabe added two goals  while teammates Yilanjian, Solomon, Brennemen, and Kaitlyn Smith each tallied one goal to secure a 10 goal lead over the Eagles entering halftime.

Just one minute into the third, McCabe opened up the scoring with her 100th career goal. Pruitt answered with her third and the Eagles' final goal of the game. Smith and Meighan closed out the third quarter with one goal each to secure a 16-4 lead.

The final quarter was dominated by the Pacers as Yilanjian tallied two goals and Meighan finished with one to give the Pacers a victory.

Solomon finished with a hatrick and one assist. Meighan contributed two goals, three assists, and eight draw controls. Smith tallied two goals, one assist, and four draw controls.

Brennemen produced two goals, while teammate Lauren Mattarazzo finished with two assists. 

Emily Dyminski had 10 saves in goal.

The Pacers outshot the Eagles 28-19.

The team will travel to Montclair State University Wednesday.
