Pacers Rally From Six Down, Fall to Royals in Bottom of the Seventh

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University responded from a six-run deficit to tie crosstown rival University of Scranton on Tuesday in non-conference softball action. The Pacers dropped the first game 8-0 in five innings before falling 7-6 in the nightcap. 

In the second game, the Pacers scattered six from the fifth inning onwards. Trailing 6-0, Mara Hamm started the rally with a bases-loaded single to center field to score Tori Para and Brooke McKay. 

McKay singled in a run in the sixth inning. Marywood tallied three runs in the seventh inning to tie the game at 6-6. Ashdon Clark doubled in a run in the top of the seventh. Mikaela Badner hit a bases-loaded single to score Sam Ferrera and Hamm. Scranton had an outfield assist to throw the potential go-ahead runner at third base. 

In the bottom of the seventh, the Lauren Cawley reached on a throwing error. The next batter walked, and Cawley went to third on a wild pitch. The Royals' Emmie Feltenberger hit a walk-off double to left center. 

Hamm was 2 for 2 with two RBIs, a run scored, and a walk. Badner finished 2 for 2 with two RBIs.

Jessica Plunkett took the loss in a relief. She finished 2 2/3 innings without allowing a run. 

In the first game, Scranton held Marywood to just two hits. McKay and Clark had the lone hits for Marywood. 

The Pacers will welcome SUNY Delhi at Pacer Park at 3 p.m.
