Pacers Blank Broncos in Doubleheader

Emma McNally hits first career home run

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University shut out SUNY Delhi in both games of a softball doubleheader on Wednesday. The Pacers won 4-0 in the first game and 8-0 in six innings during the night cap.

Mara Hamm and Marissa Gregory both threw complete game shutouts. Hamm allowed just three hits with three strikeouts. Gregory whiffed six and also yielded three hits in five innings.

In the second game, Brooke McKay finished 2 for 2 with a double, run and an RBI. Hamm went 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI. Both Tori Para and Gregory tallied two RBIs.

Alex Dusman finished with two singles.

Marywood scored five runs in the first inning. Para hit a bases-loaded single through the right side to take a 2-0 lead. Gregory followed with a double that scored a pair of runs. Abbey Stalter bunted for an RBI single that gave Marywood a 5-0 advantage.

In the opener, Emma McNally hit her first home run as a Pacer. McNally went 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Hamm finished 2 for 3 with a run scored.

McNally was responsible for the Pacers' first two runs. Hamm led off with a single to right field. After Emily Rose bunted Hamm to second, McNally singled to right field to take a 1-0 lead. She hit a solo blast in the bottom of the third.

Marywood expanded its lead with a run in the fifth and sixth innings. Hamm reached with a single up the middle in the fifth. Pinch runner Alex Dusman stole second, and Rose rocketed a single down the left line to drive in the run. The Pacers tallied their last run on a Sam Baltrusaitis steal to second base.

The Pacers have a critical Atlantic East Conference matchup with a road doubleheader at Cabrini University.
