Pacers Shut Out By Cabrini on the Road

Radnor Twp. - Marywood University lost the opening game of an Atlantic East Conference baseball series against Cabrini University 5-0 on the road. The Pacers scratched out six hits but were unable to put a run across home plate.

The Pacers and Cavaliers will continue their series on Sunday. The doubleheader was postponed by a day because of rain in the forecast in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Max Slusser was the lone Marywood batter to reach base twice. He finished 1 for 3 with a walk. Eight of the nine Pacers in the starting lineup got on base.

Nick Notari earned a quality start despite the loss. He allowed two earned runs in six innings. He struck out four and gave up nine hits. Danny Tiedemann did not allow an earned run in two innings with three strikeouts.

Cabrini took an early lead in the bottom of the first. Ryan Dipper hit an RBI bases-loaded fielder's choice that turned into a 6-5-4-1 out to get the runner at third. Notari sat down the next two runners to leave with just one run allowed after a bases-loaded, no-out situation.

The Cavaliers added to their lead with a sacrifice fly in the second.

Marywood was unable to score with a pair of runners in scoring position in the third. Trailing 3-0 in the seventh inning, Dom Marotta relieved the starter to leave the tying runner at the plate.

First pitch for Sunday's doubleheader is scheduled for noon.
