Pacers Succumb to Knights in Double Overtime

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University men's lacrosse was defeated in double overtime for the second consecutive game. The Pacers fell to Mount St. Mary's (N.Y.) 11-10 Saturday afternoon. John Scibello recorded a season-high with six points in the loss.

Prior to the start of the game, the women's lacrosse team joined the men's to honor men's lacrosse alumnus Thomas "Gibby" Gibson '21 who passed away the summer of 2022. The family of Gibby were presented with a framed jersey to honor his legacy within the Marywood community.

Scibello led the Pacers with four goals and two assists. Dillon Kane contributed two goals and an assist.

Dalton Metzger found the back of the net three minutes into the start of regulation, followed by goals from Kane and Scibello to notch their lead at 3-0. The Knights responded quickly with three unanswered goals to even the score at three to end the first quarter.

To open the second quarter, Scibello scored on a man-up opportunity off an assist from Aiden Kilkenny. The Pacers quickly added onto their lead when Scibello found Harrison Miccio on the far side for a goal to have a two-goal lead over the Knights. Xavier Rodriguez scored off an assist from Maxwell Green Wright to improve their deficit to only one goal.

The Knights outscored Marywood by a 6-4 margin to take the lead going into the fourth quarter. Kieran Scanlan scored the lone goal of the fourth quarter with just four minutes left to force the game into overtime. Marywood out shot the Knights by a 4-2 margin, but was unable to find the back of the cage.

Two minutes into the second overtime, the Knights' Green Wright had the sole shot that ultimately led to the game winner.

Scanlan, Metzger, and Miccio each scored one goal, while Kilkenny contributed one assist.

Face off specialist Nick Ericson tallied one goal, one assist, 10 ground balls, and went 16 for 24 on face offs.

Freshman Colin Trainor made 10 saves in the loss.

The Pacers had a 46-35 and 43-36 advantage in shots and ground balls respectively.
