Patterson Gets First Coaching Win at Marywood

Edwardsville, Pa. — Marywood University head coach Justin Patterson earned his first victory at Marywood as the Pacers' men's lacrosse team surpassed Wilkes University for a 6-5 win Tuesday night. Marywood advances to 1-3 on the season.

Dillon Kane led the Pacers with three points on two goals and one assist. 

Kane opened up the scoring for the Pacers just two minutes into the first quarter. Wilkes' Joseph Kozlowsk quickly responded on a man up opportunity to even the score at 1-1. Colby Opromolla added a goal to give Wilkes a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. 

The Pacers dominated the second quarter as they outscored the Colonels to a 4-1 margin. Kieran Scanlan, Nick Ericson, Kane, and John Scibello each added one goal a piece. 

The third quarter was evenly matched between the Pacers and the Colonels. Tim Hartka found the back of the cage to trail by one goal. Just six minutes left of the third, Matt Manna scored off an assist from Kane to lead 6-4.

Wilkes' Matthew Warns scored the lone goal of the fourth quarter to finish regulation down by one.

Manna contributed one goal and one assist, while Scibello, Ericson, and Scanlan each added one goal a piece. 

Ericson went 8 for 12 on faceoffs and scooped up seven ground balls. Colin Trainor made 10 saves in the win.

The Pacers travel to Moravian next Wednesday for a 4 pm matchup.
