Pacers Swept by Mustangs in Season Opener

Owings Mills, Md. — Marywood University opened the 2023 baseball season with a pair of losses to Stevenson University. The Pacers fell 11-1 and 7-2 to the Mustangs. 

The Pacers were held to just four hits in each game on Stevenson's Senior Day. The Mustangs won their fourth straight game. 

AJ Giannetti was responsible for half of the Pacers' hits. He was 2 for 2 with a walk. Christian Michak walked twice in his collegiate debut with a run scored and a stolen base. Max Slusser had Marywood's lone RBI. 
 
In the second game, Max Slusser hit a two-run double to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Joey Galantini reached first on a passed ball and stole second. Vinny D'Auria also reached first on an error. Slusser drove both runs in with a two-bagger to left-center. 

Stevenson responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Mustangs had the first three runners reach by way of single, hit-batsman, and an error. Nick Tamberino hit a three-run home run to clear the bases. 

Marywood will head to Cairn University on Wednesday.
