Pacers, Michak Break Stealing Records against Cairn

Max Ryan allowed just three hits, one earned run in first career outing

Langhorne, Pa. — Marywood University freshman Max Ryan earned a victory in his first collegiate start to lead the Pacers to its first win of the season. Marywood ousted Cairn University 12-2 Wednesday in the cold and blustering winds.

Ryan kept the former Colonial States Athletic Conference rivals in check over five innings. He allowed three hits and one earned run, limiting the Highlanders to three walks. Ryan struck out four.

Marywood's bats heated up for 15 base hits, all of two of which were singles. Christian Michak was 3 for 5 with four runs scored. Vinny D'Auria drove in three RBIs with two hits. Max Slusser reached base five times with four walks and a single.

The Pacers (1-3) broke a school record with eight stolen bases. Christian Michak also broke a single-game record with four stolen bases in just his third career game. Vinny D'Auria finished with three stolen bases.

Marywood opened with six unanswered runs.

Gerard O'Hare, Joseph Bruno and Tyler Quick combined for three hitless innings of relief. Bruno and Quick each struck out two in an inning of play.

Marywood heads to Florida next week. The Pacers take on Gallaudet University in a doubleheader on Monday.
