Pacers Drop Atlantic East Opener

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University women's lacrosse team lost 15-5 to Cabrini University in the first matchup of the Atlantic East Conference sesaon. Emma Solomon and Natalie Yilanjian led the Pacers with two goals apiece.

Solomon also scooped up six ground balls.

The first quarter was dominated by the visiting Cavaliers as they outscored the Pacers 5-0.

The Cavaliers opened up the second quarter with three goals. Solomon broke up the scoring with her first goal of the game on a free position shot. The Cavaliers closed out the first half with a 12-1 lead over the Pacers.

Marywood found its fire in the third quarter with back-to-back goals from Yilanjian and Solomon's second goal of the game, but was not enough to catch up to the Cavaliers. The Pacers trailed 13-4 entering the final quarter.

Cabrini's Shea Neary opened up the fourth quarter with a goal off an assist from Caroline Gallagher. Freshman Kaitlyn Smith found the back of the net on a free position shot to put one more on the board before the end of regulation. Anissa Serafine closed out the scoring on a woman up opportunity to take home the victory.

Smith added one goal and two draw controls. Avery Meighan tallied four ground balls and five draw controls.

Emily Dyminski had 12 saves in goal.

The Cavaliers led the Pacers in shots and ground balls by a 37-23 and 21-18 margin, respectively.

The Pacers travel to Centenary University on Wednesday.
