Pacers Have a Day In Shutout Win Over Centenary

Another team game record was set with fewest goals allowed

Hackettstown, N.J. — The Marywood University women's lacrosse team collected its first Atlantic East Conference win of the season with a 22-0 score over Centenary University. Graduate Student Emma Solomon led the Pacers with seven points on six goals and one assist. 

Kaitlyn Smith tallied four goals, two assists, and 13 draw controls. Natalie Yilanjian finished with four goals and Avery Meighan contributed three goals and five draw controls.

The Pacers took an early lead in the first quarter when Meighan scored back-to-back goals just two minutes into regulation. Yilanjian followed shortly after with her first of the game. Solomon found the back of the net on back-to-back goals off assists from Smith and Lauren Matarazzo, respectively.  Smith tallied her first goal of the game off an assist from Emily McLaughlin to put the Pacers ahead 6-0. Alaina Brenneman joined the scoring off an assist from Smith. Smith followed with a goal of her own on a free position shot to give the Pacers a 9-0 lead. Yilanjian closed out the first quarter scoring on a goal off an assist from Shannon Croll which would mount to be her first career point and first career assist. 

Sophomore Tori Wilson tallied a goal, which would mount to be her first of the season. Kortney Harry found Emma Solomon who was able to put one away. Olivia Stollsteimer scored with just two minutes left on a free position shot to give the Pacers a comfortable 13-0 lead heading into half time. 

Emma Solomon opened the second half with three goals. Two of the goals were unassisted, while Matarazzo had a helper on the third. Smith and Meighan finished out the third quarter with one goal each.

Yilanjian and Smith tacked on their last goal of the game with nine minutes left. Croll scored off an assist from Matarazzo, which tallied Croll's first career goal. Lana Sorg secured her contribution and also tallied her first career goal to close out the final quarter of regulation. 

Brenneman tallied one goal, one assist, and two draw controls. Matarazzo finished with three assists. 

Stollsteimer contributed one goal and McLaughlin tallied two assists. Croll finished with one goal and one assist, while Harry tallied one assist. 

The Pacers will travel to Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday.
