Solomon Scores 100th Career Goal in Win Over Gwynedd Mercy

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. — Emma Solomon celebrated her 100th career goal in Marywood University's 16-2 win over Gwynedd Mercy University Wednesday night. Solomon becomes the eighth player in Marywood women's lacrosse history to join the 100 goal club, following teammate Kayla McCabe.

Solomon finished with three goals. Avery Meighan tallied four goals and 11 draw controls, while Natalie Yilanjian contributed four goals and two assists.

Meighan opened up regulation with back-to-back unassisted goals to give the Pacers an early 2-0 lead. Yilanjian tallied her first of the night with one minute remaining in the first quarter. On a woman-up opportunity, Alaina Brenneman found the back of the net to give the Pacers a 4-0 lead.

Kaitlyn Smith found her first goal of the night three minutes into the second quarter. Yilanjian quickly tallied her second off an assist from Smith. Gwynedd Mercy's Hailey Bloom broke up the scoring to put the Griffins on the board. Meighan and Smith closed out the first half each tallying a goal.

The third quarter was dominated by the Pacers as they outscored the Griffins by a 5-0 margin. Olivia Stollsteimer claimed the first goal of the second half off a Yilanjian assist. Meighan added one to extend the lead to nine. Solomon contributed back-to-back goals, which would mount to be her 99th and 100th goal, respectively. Yilanjian closed out the third quarter with a goal from an Emily McLaughlin assist.

McLaughlin opened up the final quarter of regulation with an unassisted goal, followed by Yilanjian just two minutes later. Solomon tallied her third of the night off an assist from Yilanjian. Gwynedd Mercy's Kristin Varilla claimed the final goal of regulation.

Smith finished with two goals and two assists. McLaughlin added one goal and one assist. Brenneman and Stollsteimer each tallied a goal.

Emily Dyminski made six saves in the win.

The Pacers will host Marymount University Saturday.
