Women's Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day With a Win

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood women's lacrosse team won 11-7 over Marymount University to advance to 3-1 in conference play on Saturday. The team celebrated seniors Lauren Mattarazzo and Emily Dyminski before the start of regulation.

Avery Meighan finished with three goals and five draw controls. Kaitlyn Smith tallied three goals, two assists, and two draw controls.

The Saints had an early 2-0 lead in the first nine minutes. Smith tallied the first goal for the Pacers to cut the deficit in half. Natalie Yilanjian found the back of the net with just seconds left to tie the game at two.

The Pacers outscored the Saints by a margin of 2-0 in the second quarter. Alaina Brenneman scored off an assist from Yilanjian to put the Pacers ahead. With just 1:30 left in the first half, Smith tallied her second of the game to put Marywood ahead by two.

In the third quarter, Marymount scored four straight goals to regain the lead. Olivia Stollsteimer broke up the scoring to trail by one goal. Marymount's Kaylee Heath scored off an assist from Emily Peters to give the Saints a 7-5 lead. Emma Solomon closed out the third quarter off an assist from Smith.

Marywood scored five straight in the final quarter to finish with a victory. Smith's unassisted goal tied up the game at seven a piece. Meighan scored three straight goals to put the Pacers ahead 10-7. With just 35 seconds remaining, Yilanjian closed out the scoring off an assist from Mattarazzo. 

Yilanjian finished with two goals and one asssist. Brenneman tallied one goal and one assist. Solomon and Stollsteimer each contributed one goal. Mattarazzo finished with one assist.

Dyminski made nine saves in the win. 

The Pacers will host Immaculata University on Wednesday.
