Marywood Stymied Twice on Senior Day

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University was unable to get past Immaculata University Saturday on its Senior Day. The Mighty Macs prevailed for a 5-0 and 14-2 win against the Pacers.

Game 1: Immaculata 5, Marywood 0

Immaculata's pitching staff kept Marywood to four hits in the seven-inning opener.

Joseph Bruno allowed three earned runs and struck out five in five innings. He yielded six hits.

Christian Michak and AJ Giannetti reached twice with a single and a hit-batsman. Michak added another stolen base to his school record.

Game 2: Immaculata 14, Marywood 2

Immaculata showed success in the top of the first inning with four runs off of starting pitcher Max Ryan

Marywood battled in the bottom of the first inning. Michak led off with a ground-rule double. Adam Ginsberg hit a single to center field to bring runners to the corners. Marywood scored its first run of the doubleheader on a failed pickoff attempt that went beyond the third baseman's reach.

The Pacers managed their only other run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Robert Egan doubled over the center fielder's head. With two outs, Joey Yannelli doubled down the right line for the Pacers' only other run.

Egan was 1 for 2 with a run scored.

Danny Tiedemann had a successful long relief appearance. He allowed just one earned run in 4 1/3 innings with three strikeouts. Brett Kugler pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

Marywood's matchup against Penn State Schuylkill on Sunday has been cancelled. The Pacers will face off against Albright College on Tuesday at Pacer Park.
