Marywood Opens Series with Home Setback to Knights

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University suffered an 11-3 loss to Neumann University Thursday in an Atlantic East Conference baseball matchup. The Knights scored the first five runs of the game and added another five in the eighth. 

Christian Michak went 2 for 4 with two runs and a double. Max Slusser batted for 2 for 3.

Nick Notari took the loss, allowing two earned runs with four strikeouts in four innings. 

Aidan Dolan pitched a perfect three innings. Dolan sat down four of the minimum nine batters faced.

Trailing by five in the sixth inning, Christan Michak doubled to right center field. With two outs, Vinny D'Auria singled up the middle to score the Pacers' first run. 

Marywood added another run in the bottom of the eighth. Again, Michak led off with an infield single. He advanced two bases on a throwing error from a pickoff attempt. Michak scored on a wild pitch. 

The Pacers tacked on a third run in the ninth. Marywood put the first two batters on base when James Myers was hit by a pitch and AJ Giannetti hit an opposite field single. Kyle Morin lifted a ball to left field for an RBI single.

Both teams resume their series in a doubleheader on Saturday in Aston, Pa.
