Pacers Advance to the AEC Championship

Scranton, Pa.  — The Marywood University women's lacrosse team advanced to the Atlantic East Conference Championship game after a 15-7 win over Marymount University on Wednesday. Olivia Stollsteimer tallied a career high of four goals.

Kaitlyn Smith added four goals and an assist. Natalie Yilanjian tallied three goals and two assists, while Avery Meighan finished with two goals, two assists, and nine draw controls. 

Emma Solomon opened up the scoring just one minute into regulation on an unassisted goal to take the lead. Marymount responded with goals from Emily Peters and Taylor Chepren to take a 2-1 lead. Stollsteimer answered to notch the game at two a piece. Yilanjian found Solomon to put the Pacers ahead. Peters and Riley Love closed out the first quarter to regain the lead, which would mount to be the Saints' final lead of the game.

The Pacers dominated the second quarter outscoring the Saints by a 7-0 margin. Meighan found Stollsteimer for the equalizer and tied the game at four a piece. Yilanjian tallied her first goal of the game off an assist from Alaina Brenneman on a woman up opportunity. Despite being a woman down, Stollsteimer was able to tally her third and put the Pacers ahead 6-4. Just three minutes later, Smith found the back of the net to increase the lead. The Pacers had back-to-back woman up goals from Meighan and Yilanjian to have a five goal lead over the Saints. With just five seconds left in the first half, Smith tacked on one more before the buzzer.

Ella Baker opened up the second half with a goal off an assist from Arayla Garcia to cut the deficit. Stollsteimer responded with her fourth of the game with nine minutes left in the quarter. The Pacers had back-to-back-to-back free position shots that Smith and Meighan were able to capitalize on. 

The Saints outscored the Pacers 2-1 in the final quarter of regulation, but was unable to comeback. Peters scored unassisted to cut the deficit to eight goals. Kayla McCabe found Yilanjian for the final goal of the game for the Pacers. Marymount's Love closed out the scoring for both teams. 

Solomon finished with two goals, while Brenneman and McCabe each tallied one assist.

Emily Dyminski made four saves in the win and has tallied 400 career saves. 

The Pacers will travel to Cabrini University for the Conference Championship title on Saturday at 4 p.m.
