Field Hockey Ousts Oneonta

Marywood outshoots opponent in a dominate fashion

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The Marywood University field hockey team put on a dominant performance to defeat SUNY Oneonta 2-1 on Saturday. The Pacers even their record to 2-2 on the season. 

Marywood jumped ahead early when the Pacers drew a penalty corner in the seventh minute. Corrin Hasty spotted Dariane Jones who then tipped the ball in the goal to take a 1-0 lead.

The Red Dragons (2-4) responded in the second quarter. Alexandra Howell connected with Abigail Ricottilli to even out the score in the 18th minute. 

Less than three minutes later, the Pacers responded quickly. Cydney Lahr broke free and drilled the ball past Oneonta's goalkeeper to jump to a 2-1 lead. 

The Pacers had a powerful performance having 27 shots with 19 on goal. The Red Dragons had eight shots, six of which were on goal. 

Marywood's Leah Ewing recorded five saves in the match. The Red Dragons goalkeeper Maura Leib recorded 16 saves on the day. 

Marywood will look for continued success traveling to Keystone College on Monday.
