Jones' Hat Trick Secures Pacers Win

Marywood improves to 3-2 overall with the victory

LA PLUME, Pa. —- Sophomore Dariane Jones scored her first career hat trick in Marywood University's 5-1 victory over Keystone College on Monday in non-conference field hockey action. The Pacers' win improves its overall record to 3-2. 

Jones finished with three goals and an assist on the night. Lauren Youngken tallied a goal and an assist. 

Jones was able to get an open shot on goal when Cydney Lahr connected with her in the 10th minute. Jones smacked the ball past the goalkeeper to get the Pacers on the board. 

Five minutes later, Jones had another scoring opportunity to keep the Pacers' momentum. Off of a Youngken feed, she executed the shot into the corner of the cage to give the Pacers a 2-0 lead. 

The Pacers were able to add to the lead in the 29th minute. Cassie Slusser fed Youngken, who scorched the ball past the keeper.

Jones was able to tally a third goal in the 32nd minute. She scored on a ball given to her from Brie Sumner, finishing to secure a 4-0 lead. 

Four minutes later, the Pacers drew a penalty corner that allowed Jones to find teammate Youngken, who got the shot off and scored the fifth goal of the night. 

Keystone College was able to add to the scoreboard when Maria Tomada had an open opportunity which made the score 5-1 in the 42nd minute. 

Marywood had 12 total shots with eight being on target. Keystone had seven shots with three on target. The Pacers had a 12-3 advantage in penalty corners. 

The reigning Atlantic East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Leah Ewing recorded three saves. Klaira Bievenour notched a defensive save.

The Pacers will travel Thursday to face King's College.
