Falcon's Hat Trick Sends Pacers to Victory

Falcon records first hat trick of the Pacers season

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. - Marywood University sophomore Kyle Falcon had a hat trick in a topsy-turvy 5-3 victory over Clarks Summit University Saturday in a match between former Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer rivals.

The game began with two penalty kicks called within 13 seconds of each other. The Defenders got off to a quick start when in the second minute a player was pulled down in the box. Kingsley Okoi took advantage of a penalty kick for the early lead in the third minute. A similar takedown happened in front of the Defenders box, and Danny Gomez shelved a penalty-kick opportunity for the second straight game.

Alex Visha was able to connect with Falcon on a cross from the right flank. Falcon headed the ball past the goalkeeper to give the Pacers a 2-1 lead in the 23rd minute.

Falcon scored his second goal of the day in the 48th minute by placing a volley from Gomez to the cross bar and into the upper corner. Falcon had his first collegiate hat trick on a Nolan Kozera assist in the 54th minute, striking a low shot to the far post.

Okoi cut into the Pacers' lead with his second goal in the 56th minute.

The Pacers yet again were able to answer back when Kiernan Wilder broke away and drilled the ball in the back corner of the net to keep Marywood ahead 5-2.

The Defenders scored again when Okoi connected with Joel Funez in the 86th minute; however, the Pacers held on and were able to secure the 5-3 win.

Alex Russo recorded one save on the day. The Defenders' goalkeeper Liam Hungate recorded seven saves.

The Pacers will host cross-town rival University of Scranton Wednesday night.
