Lahr Leads Pacers to Dominant Win over WestConn

Dariane Jones has third straight game with three points

Scranton, Pa. — Cydney Lahr scored a career-high four goals to lift Marywood University to a 7-0 victory over Western Connecticut State Saturday in field hockey. The Pacers rolled to their fourth consecutive victory.

Dariane Jones tallied three points for the third consecutive game this week. She finished with a goal and two assists.

Corrin Hasty scored twice, and Lauren Youngken had a pair of assists.

Lianna Horner captured a shutout in her first career game at goalkeeper.

In the seventh minute, Lahr put in the Pacers' first goal on a penalty corner play. Youngken socked a ball at the top of the circle for Lahr to ricochet into the back of the cage.

A mere 44 seconds later, Youngken supplied a brilliant cross to allow Jones to one-time it for an early 2-0 lead.

Hasty converted a penalty stroke chance in the 12th minute.

Lahr put in two goals in less than a minute-span to complete the hat trick. She deflected a Cassie Slusser drive to the far side of the cage in the 19th minute. Lahr completed a fast-break chance from Jones to give the Pacers a 5-0 advantage.

Marywood ends the Wolves' two game-winning streak. The Pacers improve to 5-2, and WestConn falls to 4-3 on the year.

WestConn keeper Kayla Hansko made nine stops in goal. Marywood outshot the Wolves 26-0, and it had a 10-0 advantage in penalty corners.

Marywood hosts Juniata College on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
