Mulherin Equalizer Spoiled By Late Colonels Goal

Edwardsville, Pa. - Marywood University was unable to contain Wilkes University in a 2-1 loss Wednesday in women's soccer. 

The Pacers were even with the Colonels until a 73rd minute Taylor Anthony goal proved to be the difference maker. 

Trailing by one goal, Riley Mulherin scored an equalizer in the 58th minute on a pass from Josephine Sorce. It marked Mulherin's fifth goal of the campaign. 

Madison Straub gave Wilkes an early lead in the 42nd minute off of a Taylor Gollin assist. 

Wilkes outshot Marywood by a 17-5 margin. The Colonels had a 9-2 favor in shots on goal. Wilkes doubled the Pacers 6-3 in corners. 

Mila Elash made seven saves in net. Her counterpart Lauren Sweeney had one stop. 

Marywood was kept to just one shot in the last 18 minutes. Caroline Plank sent a shot wide left in the 87th minute. 

The Pacers head to SUNY Canton on Saturday.
