Men's Soccer Unloads in the Second Half to Upend Giants

Matt Laudenslager finished with a goal and an assist

LA PLUME, Pa. — Marywood scored three goals in 23 minutes to defeat Keystone College 3-0 Sunday in non-conference men's soccer. The Pacers remain undefeated through two games to start the 2023 season. 
 
Kiernan Wilder ended a scoreless draw with a goal in the 63rd minute. On a ball played to the back, Seth Blakiewicz fed a ball forward that allowed Nolan Kozera to run free down the right flank. Kozera delivered a cross from the end line into the center of the box. Wilder one-timed the ball with his left foot from 5 yards away to take the 1-0 lead. 

Six minutes later, after a cool-off break, Matt Laudenslager lined a direct kick just inside the near post from outside of the 18-yard box. Laudenslager's set piece goal gave Marywood a 2-0 advantage. 

On a long ball put forward by goalkeeper Alex Russo, Laudenslager tapped a bouncing ball out to Jay Tordy. The sophomore forward lofted a ball from 16 yards away into the far top-left shelf in the 83rd minute. 

Russo notched his second clean sheet in as many games with one save. He stopped a header in the 35th minute. 

Laudenslager led with a goal and an assist. 

Keystone's Hector Camaja Jr. had four saves. 

The Pacers (2-0) outshot the Giants by a 12-8 margin. The Marywood defense limited Keystone (0-2) to just a shot on goal, compared to seven on target for Marywood. The Giants edged Marywood 6-4 in corner kicks. 

Marywood holds a 9-4 series lead since 2007. The Pacers end a four-game slide to the Giants. It is Marywood's first win over the Giants since a 2-1 overtime win in 2015. 

The Pacers head south of the Mason-Dixon Line on Wednesday to take on McDaniel College.
