Men's Soccer Axes SUNY ESF, 4-0

Niko Leibkuchler completes clean sheet

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University got back into the men's soccer win column with a 4-0 win over SUNY Environmental Sciences and Forestry on Saturday afternoon. The Pacers even their record to 5-5. 

A pair of Miami, Fla. products shined for the Pacers. Danny Gomez finished with a goal and an assist. Niko Leibkuchler captured his first career clean sheet with five saves. 

The Pacers struck first with a goal in the seventh minute. Nolan Kozera placed the ball in the lower left corner of the net, just past the diving SUNY keeper. Danny Gomez got the assist on the score, serving up a beautiful cross to set up Kozera. 

Gomez scored a goal of his own in the 55th minute on a put back, assisted by Jack Forbes

The third Marywood goal of the game came in the 69th minute, off the boot of Onious George, for his first collegiate tally. A corner kick from Eli Benitez set up the score, the first assist of his young collegiate career.  

In the 83rd minute, Dawson Meckes bolstered the Pacers' lead when he placed a pass from Kiernan Wilder in the lower left corner of the net. This was also Meckes' first collegiate goal. 

The Mighty Oaks' Gabe Hunchro had seven saves of his own, while substitute keeper, Antonio Aaon, had two. 

The Pacers recorded 28 shots and 13 on goal, while the Mighty Oaks only managed 12 shots, five of which were on goal. Marywood also won the corner kick battle 4 to 2.  

The Pacers host the FDU-Florham Devils on Wednesday for their next match.
