Marywood Ends Slide, Takes Downs Mighty Macs

Five players finish in double digits

Immaculata, Pa. — Marywood University ended a five-game losing streak with its first Atlantic East Conference men's basketball victory of the season. The Pacers defeated Immaculata University 83-75 on Wednesday to even its record in conference play. 

Brendan Franko finished with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Shilo Bivins was one board shy with 10 points and nine rebounds. 

Austin Bausman and Mason Mendygral each finished with 13-point performances. Cole Johnson had 10 points. 

Immaculata received 18 points from Tyler Tillery. Mandon Seapoe swiped five steals to complement 15 points. Dylan Crews had 14 points. 

Marywood (6-8, 1-1 AEC) shot 56.6 percent from the field for the game, including a 40.9 percent mark (9 of 22) from long distance. The Pacers' shooting proficiency overcame 24 committed turnovers. Meanwhile, the Macs were 43.8 percent on field goals and connected for just two 3-pointers. 

The Pacers dominated off the glass by a 34-19 margin. 

Immaculata's ability to force turnovers manifested in a 28-11 points off turnover differential. Marywood's bench outshined the Macs by a 37-15 mark. 

Marywood doubled the Mighty Macs 22-11 in the opening 9:30 of the game. Six minutes later, the Macs roared back to take a lead on a Seapoe layup. Marywood responded with a nine-point run, and Keith Farmer's bucket cut Marywood's halftime lead to 40-34. 

Immaculata opened with the first eight points of the second half. Crews gave the Macs a 42-40 lead at the 17:16 mark. A Bivins 3-pointer put the Pacers ahead in what would be the last lead chance of the game, and Johnson connected on a long ball on the next possession. 

The Pacers' lead grew to 70-59 with a pair of Franko free throws with 4:34 remaining. Marywood made 10 consecutive free throws to close the game. 

Marywood returns home on Saturday to host Cabrini University at 2 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena.
