Pacers March Past Cyclones in a Dominant Performance

Marywood puts up six threes in the first quarter

Scranton, Pa. - The Marywood University women's basketball team came on top in a thrilling conference match-up against Centenary. The Pacers won 60-52, improving their overall record to 7-10 (1-3 AEC). Centenary falls to 13-5 overall with a 3-2 mark in conference play. 

Faith Kendricks led the charge for the Pacers with 17 points and nine rebounds. Kendricks went 5-13 in three-point attempts. She also recorded two steals and six assists.

McDonald posted 16 points, and Blume tallied 10 points. 

Stephanie Klemick also had nine rebounds. 


The Pacers started off in dominant fashion, ending the quarter with an 11-point lead. Marywood executed on 9-18 (50%) from the floor and 6-14 (42.87%) from beyond the arc in the quarter. 

Heading into halftime, Marywood extended the lead to 15. Off the bench, Shelby Ardo-Boyko scored five points in the quarter. 

In the third quarter, the Cyclones began to spin their way back into the game,  closing the gap to as little as six points. This didn't last long however, as Marywood was able to stretch it back to 12 by the quarter's end. 

The fourth quarter was equally as action packed, with Centenary trying to make another comeback,  outscoring the Pacers 14-1 in a three minute span to close the gap to 50-49. Alli Griscavage was able to shift the momentum back with a solid jumper in the paint. Mia Blume and Rachel McDonald also heavily contributed, scoring the final nine points for Marywood. 

Centenary's Kaylie Elsbree made the final shot of the game, making the final score 60-52.

Marywood was out rebounded by Centenary 46-43.  

Both the Pacers and Cyclones were 11-15 (73.33%) at the charity stripe. 

Marywood will travel to Gwynedd Mercy Wednesday to take on the Griffins.
