Tomada Slashes Hat Trick in Victory Over SUNY Morrisville

Marywood records fourth shut out of the season

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University field hockey team (6-4) had a dominant performance and posted a 8-0 victory over the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs (4-6) on Tuesday. In the win, Maria Tomada recorded her first hat trick as a Pacer. 

The Pacers got things started in the fifth minute when Tomada found Dariane Jones to give Marywood a 1-0 advantage. 

Marywood tallied another off the stick of Cydney Lahr, Tomada was credited with the assist. 

Tomada, in the 27th minute, scored to give the Pacers a 3-0 lead. 

A mere three minutes later, Lany Straub joined in on the parade and ripped a goal of her own. 

After halftime, the Pacers scored two goals in the first two minutes. Jordan Saybe placed the ball into the cage. Tomada followed with her second goal of the game, assisted by Hanna Gardner

Jones spotted Lahr in the 46th minute, who smacked the ball into the goal, boosting the Pacers lead to 7-0. 

Tomada secured her hat trick, receiving the ball from Cassie Slusser and firing it into the cage. 

Marywood out-shot SUNY Morrisville 29-7. The Pacers had 15 shots on target. 

All four Pacers keepers saw action in the cage, combining for seven saves. 

The Pacers posted 15 penalty corners, compared to Morrisville's three. 

Marywood field hockey will be hosting DeSales on Saturday.
