Lahr Scores 100th Career Point, Game-Winning Goal

Marywood wins fifth straight

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University graduate student Cydney Lahr scored her 100th career goal in a tumultuous 5-4 victory over DeSales University Saturday in non-conference field hockey. The Pacers won their fifth consecutive game to improve to 7-4 on the season.

Lahr became just the third player in Marywood field hockey history to reach the 100 Point Club. She matched a career-high four goals, allowing her to score her 41st through 44th goals of her career.

Just a mere 53 seconds into the game, Lahr scored for the Pacers with an assist from Lany Straub. Needing six points, Lahr reached the career milestone when she fired a ball under the goalkeeper's arm pads for her third goal in the 23rd minute.

After DeSales rallied with three unanswered goals in a six-minute span, Lahr added a fourth goal for good measure. She followed through on a rebound of one of her shots to take the 5-4 lead.

In spite of yielding four first-half goals, the Marywood defense yellow-taped the Bulldogs in the second half, limiting them to just a lone shot on goal. Sabrina Frazer saved Jordyne Stong's shot in the 53rd minute.

Maria Tomada scored in the third minute to give the Pacers a 2-0 lead over the Bulldogs.

Marywood had a total of 29 shots, with 22 of them being on target. The Bulldogs were only able to get out 12 shots, six of them being on target.

The Pacers were also able to post 16 penalty corners in the game; whereas the Bulldogs only had four.

Marywood field hockey will travel down Interstate 81 to take on King's College on Monday.
