Pacers Outdueled by Knights in Conference Opener

Wilson tallies his third goal of the season

Scranton, Pa. – On Saturday, the Marywood men's soccer team hosted Neumann University (5-4-4, 2-0 AEC) for the first conference matchup of the season. The Pacers (4-6-2, 0-1 AEC) would go on to fall to the Knights 2-1. 

The scoring got underway with a Neumann goal in the 33rd minute, the only tally of the first half. 

In the 58th minute of play, the Knights extended their lead to 2-0. 

The Pacers rallied late, as Jayce Wilson was able to finish off a beautiful ball from Alex Visha to close the gap to 2-1 in the 87th minute. 

The Knights out-shot the Pacers 13-9, while Marywood led 5-3 in shots on goal. 

Kelton Ostrander was in net for the entirety of the match for the Pacers and recorded one save. 

Neumann keeper, Jackson Laznik, collected four saves on the day. 

The Knights also led in corner kicks 9-5. 

Marywood will play host to the Cyclones of Centenary University on Wednesday as they look to bounce back.
