Tomada Hat Trick Leads Pacers to Victory in Conference Opener

Four Pacers tallied goals in the contest

Scranton, Pa. - On a brisk Tuesday afternoon, the Marywood University field hockey team opened up conference play by hosting the Neumann Knights (4-9, 0-1 AEC). The Pacers ran away with a 6-0 win and improving to 9-5 (1-0 AEC) on the season.

Maria Tomada got the scoring underway for Marywood in the 5th minute, as she was able to finish off a pass from Lany Straub to grab the early 1-0 lead.

In the 13th minute of the game, Tomada netted another goal to extend the lead to 2-0. Dariane Jones was credited with the assist off of the penalty corner.

Jones wanted in on the scoring, as she tallied one of her own in the 21st minute after a penalty corner save, assisted by Cydney Lahr for a 3-0 advantage.

The Pacer lead extended yet again in the 24th minute, with an unassisted follow-up score from a penalty corner off the stick of Lahr which extended the margin to 4-0.

Straub also got in on the scoring in the 38th minute, as she crashed the goal on a penalty corner, netting the rebound shot. The Pacers' lead increased to 5-0.

The sixth and final Pacer goal was an absolute scorcher off the stick of Tomada yet again, this time in the 58th minute. This was the third tally of the game for Tomada as she collected her second hat-trick of the season.

Marywood collected a total of 32 shots in the match, 21 of which were on goal.

Neumann was able to record four total shots and one on target.
