Pacers Fall in a Close Conference Match Against Marymount

Meckes notches his first goal of the season

Arlington, Va. — The Marywood men's soccer team took to the pitch in an away contest against Marymount University (9-4-4, 4-0-0 AEC). The Pacers (4-7-3, 0-2-1 AEC)  would go on to concede to the Saints by a score of 3-2. 

The scoring got underway in the 10th minute as the Saints netted the first of the match, going up 1-0. 

Marywood was quick to respond, as Nolan Kozera converted on a penalty kick in the 16th minute, beating the keeper and knotting the match at 1-1. 

Marymount would score the next two goals of the afternoon, striking in the 24th minute to retake the lead and then again in the 76th minute to add some insurance. 

The Pacers were able to grab another in the 77th minute on a score from Dawson Meckes, but they would go on to fall short 3-2. 

The Saints out-shot the Pacers 18-12 and had more shots on goal, 10-7. 

Kelton Ostrander recorded seven saves in net for Marywood, while Bayron Banegas collected five for Marymount. 

The Saints also led 7-4 in corner kick chances. 

Marywood will look to rebound on Wednesday as they host Gwynedd Mercy University for Senior Night.
