Pacers Shut Out Griffins on Senior Night

Marywood went 2 for 2 on penalty kick conversions

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University earned its first Atlantic East Conference men's soccer victory of the season with a 3-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy University on senior night. Seniors Brennan Anderson, Danny Gomez, Niko Leibkuchler, and Equipment Manager David Nichols were recognized before the match. 

Gomez opened up the scoring for Marywood, as he put the Pacers ahead 1-0 in the 33rd minute with a penalty kick. 

In the 62nd minute of the match, Drew Smith was able to extend the Marywood lead to 2-0 as he converted on an assist from Alex Visha. 

Jack Forbes tallied the third and final goal for the Pacers in the 65th minute, burying a penalty kick for extra insurance. 

Marywood out-shot Gwynedd Mercy 34-6 and had more shots on target, 13-2. 

Leibkuchler and Jairo Salazar split time in net, recording the shutout. Leibkuchler tallied two saves in the victory. 

The Pacers also had six corner kick opportunities. 

The team will travel next to Pratt Institute on Saturday.
