Pacers Late Goal Results in Draw Against Hood

Falcon notches his second goal of the season

Scranton, Pa. – The Marywood University men's soccer team hosted Hood College on Wednesday evening, as the clubs competed for the Pacer Cup. The much anticipated match ended in a 1-1 draw, as the Pacers (4-4-2) netted a late score near the end of regulation to pull even with the Blazers (3-5-2).

The match got underway with both teams coming up empty throughout the first half, as they went into the locker room at a stalemate.

It wasn't until the 55th minute of play that the scoreless draw was broken, as Hood's Cam Sampler was able to sneak one into the bottom corner of the net off of a cross to pull ahead 1-0.

In the 88th minute, Alex Visha was fouled in the box, leading to a penalty kick opportunity for the Pacers. Kyle Falcon stepped up to the stripe to take the penalty for Marywood and buried the shot top right just past the out-reached hands of Hood's keeper, Nick Humphries, to even up the score.

The late tally for Marywood allowed them to salvage a draw in the Pacer Cup, as the match concluded at 1-1.

Humphries had four saves for the Blazers, while Kelton Ostrander recorded four saves of his own for the Pacers.

Hood College had a slight edge in total shots, as they posted 14 in comparison to Marywood's 12. Both clubs had five shots on goal.

The Blazers also led in corner kick opportunities 12-0.

Marywood is back in action in a week, as they travel down to Wilkes-Barre for a matchup with King's College on Wednesday.
