Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Pacers' Defense Silences Colonels, 1-0

Josie Sorce delivers game-winning goal in 62nd minute

Scranton, Pa. -- The Marywood University produced its seventh clean sheet of the season in a 1-0 win over Wilkes University Wednesday in non-conference women's soccer action. The Pacers kept the Colonels without a shot on goal.

Josephine Sorce scored the game-winning goal in the 62nd minute. Elena De Los Santos delivered a pass to Sorce, who took two steps towards the center of the box. Sorce delivered a shot to the top shelf that evaded the goalkeeper's reach for her fifth goal of the season.

Marywood improves its record to 7-3-1 on the season. Wilkes falls to 3-5-2.

Genevieve Morrison and Jenna Orr took a share of the clean sheet.

The Pacers looked to take the lead in the 45th minute. Off of a corner kick, Bryne Stiles headed a ball that pinged off the top woodwork.

Bella Wright had a pair of shots that were stopped by Wilkes keeper Amanda Lee. Off a corner kick, Wright tried for the left side of goal amid heavy traffic in the box. Lee made a kick save, stopping the ball with her left foot.

Marywood outshot Wilkes by a 20-2 margin, and the Pacers blanked the Colonels 7-0 in shots on target. Marywood had 11 corner kicks to the Colonels' one.

Both Lee and Delaney Yaracs made three stops for the Colonels.

Marywood looks to make it a Wilkes-Barre sweep when King's College comes to the Electric City on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
