Field Hockey Rolls to Sixth Straight Win

Wilkes-Barre Twp., Pa. — Marywood University field hockey won its sixth consecutive game with a 5-1 victory over King's College on Monday. It is the Pacers' second straight season with a six-game winning streak. 

In the first half, the Pacers scored three goals in a seven-minute span. 

Lany Straub scored two goals. Cydney Lahr and Dariane Jones each finished with a goal and an assist. 

Maria Tomada scored the first goal of the game in the seventh minute. On a Jones penalty corner, Tomada blasted a ball into the right side of the cage to take a 1-0 lead. Jones' assist moved her into a tie for fifth all-time with 18 career assists. 

A mere 68 seconds later, Straub scored her first of the game to double the lead. Lahr added another goal to the far post in the 14th minute.

In the last minute before halftime, Straub deflected a Lahr shot into the cage at the goal line. 

King's (3-8) broke the shutout in the 33rd minute. Rowan Murray scored on a Melanie Tlatenchi feed. Three minutes later, Jordan Saybe breezed past the goalkeeper and fed Jones an assist for a 5-1 lead. 

Marywood outshot the Monarchs by a 20-3 margin. The Pacers had a 10-4 advantage on penalty corners. 

Emily Bollinger had four saves, and Hannah Hagan made three stops for the Monarchs. 

Marywood (8-4) won its third straight game over King's. 

The Pacers will travel to No. 9 SUNY Cortland on Saturday at 1 p.m.
