Women's Soccer Bucks Mighty Macs, Steers into Atlantic East Finals

Marywood hosts Marymount Saturday at 1 p.m. in a title rematch

Scranton, Pa. —Top-seeded Marywood University rolled into its sixth consecutive Atlantic East Conference women's soccer final with a 4-0 semifinal win over No. 4 Immaculata University on Wednesday. The Pacers will take on Marymount University Saturday in the Atlantic East championship game. 

Marywood recorded its 15th combined shutout of the season. Its defensive consecutive scoreless minutes streak extends to 851 minutes, 39 seconds. 

Josephine Sorce scored an assist and pair of goals to increase her total to 15 on the season. Caroline Plank scored her first of the season, and Caroline Walters finished a penalty kick. 

Maura Kirkpatrick and Riley Mulherin each finished with an assist. 

Marywood went ahead in the ninth minute when Mulherin delivered a cross from the right edge of the box. Sorce one-time the pass at the near side of the goal to take the lead. 

Plank doubled the Pacers' lead in the 37th minute. She tapped in a Sorce kick at the far post. 

Sorce added her fifth point of the evening in the 44th minute. Kirkpatrick sent a throughball for Sorce to finish on a breakaway chance. 

Walters capped the scoring with a 56th minute goal. 

Marywood outshot the Mighty Macs (7-10-2) by a 28-4 margin. The Pacers shut out the Mighty Macs 12-0 in corner kicks. 

Jenna Orr made two saves in 45 minutes. Genevieve Morrison added to her 15th combined shutout. 

Emily Guthier had three stops for the Macs. 

The Pacers host the second-seeded Saints on Saturday at 1 p.m.
