Pacers Open the Season With Victory Over Bard

Ciullo records a double-double

Bronxville, NY — The Marywood women's basketball team opened up the 2024-2025 season today as they squared off with Bard College. The Pacers (1-0) came out victorious, defeating the Raptors (0-1) 57-52. 

After a slow start offensively, the Pacers found themselves trailing after the end of the first quarter. Bard also took their lead into the half, up 25-23 on Marywood. 

The third quarter was the biggest for the Pacers, as they dropped 20 points to take a slight lead, 43-42. 

Marywood didn't let up, out-scoring the Raptors 14-10 in the final quarter of play, and eventually going on to win 57-52. 

The Pacers shot a mere 20-59 (33.9%) on the day from the field, while also shooting 6-24 (25%) from beyond the arch and 11-15 (73.3%) from the free-throw line. 

The Raptors shot 17-56 (30.4%) in total, 7-22 (31.8%) from three, and 11-18 (61.1%) from the stripe. 

Olivia Ciullo led the Pacers with 24 points (9-19, 47.4%), while also recording 13 rebounds. 

Mia Blume recorded 10 points on the day.

Rachel McDonald posted eight points and Megan Cavoli added seven points along with six rebounds.

On the day, Marywood was out-rebounded by Bard 46-39. 

The Pacers will be back in action tomorrow as they face Bryn Mawr College at 2 p.m.
