Marywood Conquers the Aggies, 70-61

Ciullo posts her second double-double of the season

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University women's basketball team hosted the Aggies of Delaware Valley University Saturday afternoon.  The Pacers (6-3) marched away with a 70-61 victory over the Aggies (2-4). 

The Pacers went on a 11-3 run to start the game, closing the first quarter with a 18-16. 

Delaware Valley evened up the score twice in the first three minutes of the second quarter before the Pacers went on a 11-2 run. Mia Blume broke the tie both times. 

The Pacers would end the half up 34-29. 

Marywood was lights-out in the third, putting up 20 points, compared to the Aggies' eight. The Pacers had a 17-point lead heading into the final quarter. 

The Pacers were out-scored by the Aggies in the final quarter, 24-16. The Aggies got within four with three and change to play. Marywood held on, going on to win, 70-61. 

The Pacers did not trail once throughout the game. 

Blume led the Pacers with 19 points. Megan Cavoli tallied 15 for Marywood while having a team-leading five assists. 

Olivia Ciullo had her second double-double of the season, collecting 16 points and 12 rebounds. 

Marywood was 50 percent from the floor, 47.4 percent beyond the arch, and 81.8 percent from the charity stripe. 

Delaware Valley was 25-64 (39.1 percent) from the field, 21.4 percent from three, and 8-10 at the free throw line. 

The Pacers and Aggies each recorded 32 rebounds. 

Marywood will be back in action at home on Monday evening against Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
