Baseball Swept by Fighting Scots to Start Spring Break

Ft. Pierce, Fla. — Marywood University opened its spring training baseball trip with a sweep to the College of Wooster on Monday. The Pacers lost by 6-0 and 5-3 scores.

Game 1: Wooster 6, Marywood 0

Wooster went ahead with a two-run home run to open the first inning en route to the win over the Pacers. Ryan Kramer took the Pacers yard after Eli Westrick hit a leadoff single.

Adam Ginsberg went 2 for 2 for the Pacers. Vinny D'Auria had the Pacers' only other hit.

Kramer went 3 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs.

Nick Notari took the loss, allowing two earned runs in four innings.

Game 2: Wooster 5, Marywood 3

A two-run fourth inning was not enough for the Pacers to overcome an early deficit to Wooster.

Christian Michak finished with a multi-hit performance. Connor Rasimovich hit a triple.

Matthew Klipple and Charlie Hamm each pitched scoreless innings of relief. Klipple struck out the side in the sixth inning.

Wooster (7-3) took an early lead in the second. McGowan led off with a double to right field. John Panstares hit a sacrifice fly to bring in McGowan. The Fighting Scots doubled their lead in the third. Nathaniel Huxtable was hit by a pitch to start the frame and advanced into scoring position on an error. Zack Barienbrock hit an RBI single to right field that gave Wooster a 2-0 lead.

Marywood got on the scoreboard for the first time in the third. Joel Ayers reached on a leadoff walk. Michak singled and advanced on a throw to put two runners in scoring position. D'Auria drove in an RBI single to halve the Scots lead.

The Scots extended their lead in the fourth. McGowan hit his second double of the game to center field, and Grant Mitchell advanced him to third on an infield single. Panstares hit a sacrifice fly to left field, and Bryn Langley hit a single for a 4-1 lead.

Marywood put up two runs in the fourth inning. Nick Ruiz singled to third base. Connor Rasimovic hit an RBI triple to left field and scored on a wild pitch.

The Pacers (1-3) take on Western Connecticut State on Tuesday morning.
