Stalter's Web Gem Punches Win in Extra Innings

Clermont, Fla. – Marywood University senior center fielder Abbey Stalter made a diving catch in extra innings to notch a 6-5 win over University of Wisconsin-Stout on Thursday. The Pacers' softball team split its day with a 2-0 loss to Mitchell College in the opener to end its four-game winning streak to start the season. 

Game Two: Marywood 6, Wisconsin- Stout 5 (8 inn.)

Stalter's leaping dive punctuated a win in extra innings. 

Going into the eighth, Marley Sarafinko executed a sacrifice bunt to advance Kat Davis to third. Tori Para followed up with an RBI single to right field giving the Pacers a 6-5 lead. 

Marywood held the Blue Devils in the bottom of the eighth. The Pacers put on a defensive show by picking off the base runner at third on a failed suicide squeeze to secure the second out. Stalter made a super-woman grab in left centerfield to close the win.


In the first, Para doubled down the left field line, scoring Davis. In the second inning, Marywood doubled its lead on a double steal that plated Alex Dusman

The Blue Devils did not shy away responding in the third inning with a single through the left side scoring a run. 

Stout took the lead in the fourth with a fielder's choice scoring the tying run followed up by a suicide squeeze to take a 3-2 lead. 

The Pacers responded in the top of the fifth with back-to-back RBI walks from Morgan Sakulich and Priscilla Grill

Marywood grabbed an insurance run in the seventh. Lauryn Notari blasted a double in the left center gap, giving the Pacers a two-run lead. 

The Blue Devils rallied in the bottom of the seventh. They hit a RBI double followed by an RBI single to tie up the game. 

Marissa Gregory improved to 3-1 t with the win. She pitched four innings, allowing seven hits, one walk, and two earned runs. 

Anna Blanford took the loss falling to 4-2. She threw four innings tallying three hits, no earned runs, and four strikeouts. 


Game One: Mitchell 2, Marywood 0

Emma McNally led the way for the Pacers reaching base in all three plate appearances. 

Davis led off the game with a triple but was not able to score. 

In the second inning, the Mariners roped a double to left center playing their first run. 

Both sides were kept quiet until the top of the seventh inning when Mitchell hit a single through the right side to take a 2-0 lead on the Pacers. 

Gregory took the loss for the Pacers falling to 2-1 on the season. She pitched seven innings allowing one earned run, three hits, and two walks. She struck out nine. 

Katelyn Lipsky secured the win for Mitchell improving to 1-1. She pitched a complete game shutout allowing five hits and two walks. She struck out five. 

The Pacers will play their final games in Florida Friday against Washington College (Md.) and The Catholic University of America.
